Hey chief, grab me a beer. I have to write a few things about the new TANKARD. The new what? The “Beast Of Bourbon” of course! No, they didn’t change their beloved drink with the bourbon. Believe me! German beer-thrasher band strikes back and everybody gets out of their way! The aristocracy of crime, Frank, Andy, Olaf and (135 kilos!) Gerre, release a dynamite, because “Beast Of Bourbon” is an album full of energy, power and inspiration. Mind-blowing riffs, beer and non-beer lyrical themes, bombing rhythm section and we have one of the best thrash albums of this year! Here is the oath of all thrashers against the “true” and “posers”, the “Die With A Beer In Your Hand” song (“Sword held higher - who’s the liar? - I have the beer of fire!"). But TANKARD doesn’t sing only for drinking! The cover on the punk band called Cocksparrer (“We’re Coming Back”) prepares us to the upcoming live shows. They also sing about the American killings in the name of freedom (“Under Friendly Fire”), alternative ways of sex (“Fistful Of Love”) and many more subjects that you have to find out. And I say that because “Beast Of Bourbon” is not a flat album, but a deeper musical analysis under humorous and thrash prism. However, the biggest advantage of the record is the music, which leads you to an unstoppable headbanging! This result owes a lot to Andy Classen’s production and mixing, which is just perfect. Finally, I have to mention the marvellous cover by Sebastian Kruger. It really made me to hear the “Beast Of Bourbon” album with a pleasant-stupid smile…
